The Ben Gurion Immigration Department is responsible for the initial reception of new immigrants upon their arrival.
The department issues and registers:
- Identification numbers on the immigrant’s certificate
- Enrollment in a health fund
- Opening a bank account
- First payment for “Absorption Basket”
- Senior citizen allowance as per entitlement
The department guides those entitled on their rights and initial procedures in various institutions.
In addition, the department provides free transportation or flight to the immigrant’s first address in Israel.
